Exhibition Introduction
Currently, the trend of China’s supply chain shifting to Vietnam is booming. Many Chinese companies have moved their factories to Vietnam using models such as contract manufacturing, assembly, and rebranding. Over 200 listed companies have invested in projects in Vietnam, with thousands of companies establishing branches there. They commonly adopt operational models like “China semi-finished products/parts + Vietnamese industrial workers + Vietnamese origin certificates for export + vertical distribution in the Vietnamese local market” to maintain their global supply chain foreign trade share. Given the growth potential and explosive capacity of Vietnam’s electronics industry market, the Vietnam International Optoelectronic Exhibition (VIOE 2024), supported and hosted by the Vietnamese government, is a key foreign trade promotion project aligning with Vietnam’s innovation and technology development strategy. With the theme of “Connecting the Global Value Chain and Promoting Sustainable Electronics Industry Development,” the exhibition invites countries with technological advantages in electronics, such as the U.S., EU, Japan, South Korea, China, ASEAN countries, and India, to participate. The event aims to provide all exhibitors with excellent cooperation matchmaking opportunities in foreign trade and cross-border investment, technical collaboration, etc., within the modernization process of Vietnam's electronics industry. Concurrent activities include cross-border trade promotion exchanges, B2B supply-demand matchmaking, showcasing cutting-edge electronics technologies, on-site visits, and the selection of high-quality technological products. This exhibition is based in Vietnam’s electronics manufacturing foreign trade center, focusing on Vietnam’s Industry 4.0 national strategy. It aims to become a comprehensive service platform for customized procurement in Vietnam’s high-tech electronics supply chain and a highly efficient event connecting supply and demand for optoelectronic products, components, technological materials, and production equipment.
WHY CHOOSE VIETNAM ?
Vietnam is one of the world’s top 20 trading economies. In 2023, its GDP grew by 5.05%, ranking among the top globally, with forecasts for the next few years predicting a growth rate of 6.3-7.0%.
Vietnam has signed 16 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, building a highly integrated global free trade zone network and a new economic entity with low trade barriers in its supply chain.
Vietnam has been rated as one of the 30 most attractive emerging consumer markets for investment globally. Global electronics companies are moving high-tech production to Vietnam, making it a “new favorite” and manufacturing hub in the global electronics industry supply chain. The total market value of its electronics industry is about $120 billion.
In 2023, Vietnam's total import value was approximately $328 billion, with $111.6 billion imported from China, making China Vietnam’s largest import market. The total value of imports for 3C electronics products and components was $88.2 billion, with $23.5 billion from China. Vietnam is one of the top five countries with the fastest growth in global electronics consumption, ranking among the top in ASEAN in the 3C electronics market development index.
Vietnam is the 12th largest exporter of electronic products globally, with 95% of its export value controlled by foreign-invested enterprises. Most of the electronics products in the Vietnamese market are either imported finished products or imported components assembled domestically, with electronic components, materials, and software largely reliant on imports.
The optical technology, optoelectronics, solar photovoltaics, laser, displays, and LED lighting markets in Vietnam are developing rapidly. The U.S., Japan, and South Korea have already provided nearly $1 billion in direct development assistance to Vietnam in this field, spanning upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. Vietnam is now the largest supplier of optoelectronic components to the U.S., and the six largest global computer ODM giants have completed their layout in Vietnam. In the future, Vietnam will be one of the most important foreign trade support markets for the global optoelectronic technology field.
